Yu Wins Second Diving Gold

PERTH Yu Zhuocheng won his second gold medal of the World Swimming Championships when he partnered Xu Hao to victory in the Men's Synchronized Three-Meter Springboard final on Monday. Yu also won Saturday's one-meter springboard title and Monday's victory took China's tally in men's diving to three wins in three events with the golden sequence begun last Thursday by Sun Shuwei and Tian Liang in the synchronized platform final.

Yu, who defends the individual three-meter springboard title on Tuesday, and Xu compiled 313.50 points from their five dives in the final to win by five points from Germany's Alexander Mesch and Holger Schlepps. Mesch and Schlepps, bronze medalist behind Yu on the one-meter board on Saturday, won the three-meter springboard event when synchronized diving made its championship debut at the European championships in Seville, Spain, last August. They added world silver medals to their collection with an aggregate 308.28 points.
